Synopsis
When stricken with a terminal disease, Young-su leaves his careless high life in the city, live-in girlfriend and dwindling business. He retreats to a sanatorium in the countryside in order to treat his illness, where he meets a young woman who is a resident patient there. Soon they develop feelings for each other and leave the sanatorium together to live in a small but cozy farm house. Their health improves dramatically but when Young-su’s friends from the city come for a visit, he starts to wonder if he should abandon mundane rural village and return to his former lifestyle.

He meets a girl, Eun-hee who is also suffering from a critical disease. They start to live together. But one day, his old girlfriend appears in front of him, asking him to return to the life they once had before. He leaves Eun-hee to live with his old girlfriend. As time passes, he misses Eun-hee, and goes down to the house they used to live together. But he finds the empty house and Eun-hee who is waiting for her last moment in the sanatorium.

A bit of news about our old friend Hur Jin-ho. Hwang Jeong-min and Im Soo-jung are cast to play in HAPPINESS, his fourth feature after CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST, ONE FINE SPRING DAY, and APRIL SNOW.
The film is a love story about two people who meet while battling serious illnesses. So it doesn't sound like a major departure for him in terms of subject matter, though personally I don't think I mind. Some directors are good enough at the little things that they can make an interesting film regardless of the overarching structure.
Hur's last film APRIL SNOW took a lot of abuse from critics and online, though I think most of the bile was aimed at the stars. It will be nice to have another film from Hur with good actors and fewer distractions. I'm hoping he puts more dialogue into this one, too -- conversations between characters are often the best part of his films.
It will start shooting in early September, and they're aiming for a release next spring.

8/11/06 – Hwang Jung Min and Im Soo Jung (황정민, 임수정) will lead the movie "Happiness (행복)". The movie is directed by Huh Jin Ho (허진호) whose previous work was "April Snow (외출)". In the movie, HJM plays a playboy Young Soo (영수) checking into a hospital due to sickness. Although Young Soo has a girl friend in Seoul, he falls in love with another woman who he meets in the medical treatment unit of the hospital. ISJ plays an optimistic woman Eun Hee (은희) bravely fighting her illness. In order to protect the unexpected precious love, Eun Hee becomes a matured woman to accommodate every thing of her beloved man. The filming is scheduled to start in early September.

Hwang Jung Min from his list of movies have never failed to captivate with his versatility tackling the most (varied) intense roles with touching performances - watch his movies and you'd know why and Im Soo Jung, the lovely talented actress who tops movie critics' fave list.
I have very simple reasons for liking a movie; the storyline, the cast and the posters... sometimes they come in reversed order, too.
But yes, I've always love beautiful movie posters. Cliche? Maybe but to me, the posters stir the very first emotion for a movie, bringing the anticipation up a notch. Like a few of the romances that came out in 2006, I just love the teaser poster for Happiness (see above). The title itself is already a catch, the "happiness" in the actors' expression from the poster is simply endearing. Love the way ISJ tugged at HJM's coat, simple gesture that's so warm and sweet. The first thing I noticed and I'm hooked. 
Another reason I'm looking forward to the movie is the pairing of ISJ and HJM, 10 years between them. There's a good feeling of the chemistry, being the credible & talented actors they both are... it'll be very interesting to see how they'll fare against each other, bringing out the best. Another romance-melodrama with a 10-yr gap between the actors, Once in a Summer (LBH-SA) is currently captivating the audience with a great onscreen-chemistry and touching performances. I have no doubt that ISJ and HJM will have a great onscreen chemistry as well, the spark is already shown in the poster.
